EHS Supervisor

Bradford, ON

The EHS Supervisor oversees the development and implementation of programs ensuring the health and safety of associates and the environment, and ensures compliance with regulations such as OHSA, EPA, OFC, and Ontario Regulation 851. This role involves liaising with regulatory bodies including WSIB. The position is a working leadership role, focusing on providing support and knowledge to enhance safety systems and programs within Bradford's environmental, health, and safety initiatives.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS management systems, policies, procedures, and training programs.   

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective and preventive actions.   

  • Manage reporting and investigation of incidents, injuries, and near-misses, including WSIB claims and return-to-work programs  

  • Manage all required regulatory and certification training for associates (forklift, TDG, confined space, first aid, JHSC, supervisor).   

  • Oversee Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and maintain safety documentation and KPIs.   

  • Coordinate Process Safety Management (MOC), environmental compliance approvals, permits, and hazardous waste programs.   

  • Manage fire safety, PPE, certification/regulatory training, safety equipment inspections, and Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs).   

  • Maintain EHS manuals, SDS inventories, and online training systems.   

  • Serve as subject matter expert for all EHS matters, providing guidance on regulatory compliance and best practices.   

  • Be available on call for site emergencies as needed.  

Experience:

  • Proven experience in EHS management, with 3+ years in manufacturing, construction, or logistics, including demonstrated success in leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance  

Education:   

  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science or related field.  

  • Relevant certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are preferred assets. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), leadership, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential.   

  • Proficiency in Office 365.  

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant Canadian federal and Ontario provincial EHS legislation, standards (CSA and ISO) and best practices.
