Process Engineer

The Process Engineer provides technical support to chemical manufacturing operations, focusing on optimizing production processes, improving reliability, yield, and efficiency while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and cost-effectiveness in a specialty chemical plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor daily plant operations, troubleshoot process/equipment issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain or exceed production targets
Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., yield enhancement, energy reduction, waste minimization)
Participate in Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for modifications and new installations
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, QEHS, and engineering teams on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and turnaround planning
Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and production performance reports/KPIs
Ensure adherence to PSM, OSHA, EPA, and company safety/environmental standards
Provide technical guidance during shift operations, incident investigations, and emergency response
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related field)
3–8+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, or specialty chemicals production
Strong understanding of unit operations (distillation, reaction, heat exchange, fluid flow), process control, and PSM elements
Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, data historian); familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma is a plus
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Reports to: Plant manager
This role is hands-on, plant-based, and critical for bridging engineering design with day-to-day safe, reliable, and profitable production.
